Last Known Photos Of Jim Morrison Make Him All The More Enigmatic

Few figures in music history fit the definition of “enigma” the way The Doors’ frontman Jim Morrison does. If there’s one thing we know for sure about the rock legend, it’s this – nearly five decades after his death, a cloud of mystery still surrounds the late singer, and the last known photos of him only add to the enigma.
Larger Than Life
On July 3, 1971, Jim Morrison died, joining the so-called mystical Club 27 – a group of legendary actors and musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Marilyn Monroe, and others who died at the young age of 27. He went out more legend than man, but recently-unearthed pictures from a week before his death provide a different look at the iconic singer.
A Wild Life
Jim Morrison could have put Axl Rose and other party animals alike to shame with his antics. After The Doors became famous, he was dropping acid almost daily and drinking alcohol constantly. Like many other artists, drugs, especially psychedelics, were a doorway to more vivid dimensions for Morrison, and the effect was seen in his art. “Drugs are a bet with your mind,” he famously said.
